The Countdown Until The Sylvan Hotel release is heating up!
By Maggie Block
It feels impossible that we are almost ready to release The Sylvan Hotel, we’ve been working on it so hard for so long. One of our first two interns, Nova, read the manuscript and brought it to our attention. She loved it, and so did we! From there we’ve been reading, editing, and trying to get folks hyped for this incredible love letter to Seattle in the 90s!
We have a lot planned to celebrate and get the word out about this book! From events (one of which you can read about later in this newsletter!), to creating maps of the places in the book, to walking tours (more TBA on those), to panel discussions- we’re so excited to use this book as a conduit to share local history from view points we don’t usually look through!
You can support our efforts by requesting The Sylvan Hotel at your local library! Here are how-to guides at King County Library System, Seattle Public Library, Tacoma Public Library, Pierce County Library System, and Sno-Isle Libraries. But no matter where you are in the country (hi Mom!) your public library will have a way to request (or suggest) books to purchase! You will need the book’s ISBN (1609441656) title (The Sylvan Hotel) author (Frannie James) Audience (adult) Type (fiction) format (book- though we will have an audiobook soon…) Publisher (Hinton Publishing) and publication year (2025). If there is a section for notes you could include links to reviews of the book, from Odd and Bookish, Kirkus, and The Midwest Review of Books (You can copy and paste: Reviews: bit.ly/SylvanKirkus, bit.ly/SylvanMidwest, oddandbookish.wordpress.com/2025/08/19/review-the-sylvan-hotel/).
If you have the funds and room on your shelves, please consider pre-ordering a copy! If you’re a monthly supporter you get a discount code!
If you have a Goodreads, Storygraph, Librarything, Fable etc account, you can still request an eARC, and we’ll also have an eARC on Net galley soon!
Independent books spread by word of mouth. With your help this book will succeed!
