See you Thursday: Speak the Sojourner Live!

There are easier things to do on a Thursday night than tell the truth. You could stay home. Scroll. Numb out. Pretend the world is not asking anything of you.

But on May 21, at Lucy’s Bottleshop, we’re choosing something harder, and far more necessary.

In partnership with Hinton Publishing's Speak the Sojourner, this is a night about saying what we’re not supposed to say. About refusing the lie that politeness is more important than honesty, about making space for the messy, the tender, the inconvenient, and the real. There’s something especially right about this collaboration. Lucy’s is a space built to celebrate the overlooked and under-celebrated in wine, and Hinton, a publisher committed to uplifting underinvited voices, coming together to remind us that what’s most interesting, most vital, has always lived just outside the gate.

Because the truth is not always pretty, but it is always liberating.

Speak the Sojourner exists because too many stories get buried under respectability, gatekeeping, and the quiet threat of who gets to be heard and who does not. This night pushes back.

So come for the wine, yes. But stay for the real. Stay for the kind of honesty that makes you laugh a little too loud, think a little too hard, and maybe, if we’re doing it right, leave a little less willing to accept the world as it is.
